hesaurDuring past past two weeks of week 7 & 8 in term 1, the teachers swapped out our P.E day for a real physical educations. Our task was to find a sport, or make a sport, and turn it into an adaptive sport. The teachers asked us turn that sport into a sport that would benefit the disabled. We needed to switch something like basket ball, into silent basket ball. This would benefit the mute; because they can’t talk, and now neither can anyone else. This task was very frustrating, because we needed to make specific rules.
Our game idea was: Roulette Ball. The rules are very simple. There is one small throwable ball and a water bottle. You need at least 2 people to play this game, so it’s more fun. But the more the better of course. You had to spin the bottle whilst the people playing would stand in a circle around the spinning bottle with the ball also in the middle of them all. Which ever person the bottle’s end lands on, that person must quickly grab the ball and throw it at someone. Which ever person the ball hits, they are out. the game continues until there is one person left. You may not grab the ball if the bottle doesn’t land on you, and the bottle must be spun properly.
Something I learnt is that when making rules, it is quiet difficult because of the amount of specifics you have to put to avoid cheaters and unfair plays because of wrongly put rules. I learnt this because we got sent back multiple times because our rules weren’t specific enough.
Something that I am proud of is our new game and our differences that make our game a bit more diverse with our different opinions. The people in our group was; Geoff, Mylo, Van and I. We each had our different opinions on our game.
Something I would like to improve most of all is my listening skills, because I can get distracted really easily if I find the topic a bit boring or less important. I would love to fix this so that I can listen to people more.
If you had to make an adaptive game, what would it be?
